The technical inspection (RTM)
Private vehicles have their first inspection five years after registration (Ley 769 de 2002 art. 52, as modified by Ley 2294 de 2023 art. 179); those registered up to 19 May 2018 keep six years (Ministerio de Transporte, Circular Externa 20234000000637 of 19 October 2023).
Public service vehicles have their first inspection two years after registration. After the first, every vehicle is inspected every year (art. 51).
The inspection is done at an authorised diagnostic centre (CDA). The app counts the dates from the registration date or the last inspection you enter.
